Lab of agricultural machinery
The core items in the agricultural machinery research include field management machines for agricultural crops, processing machines for harvested agricultural products, and agricultural waste processing machines.
● Continuous Vegetable and Fruit Skin Peeler
The peeler is suitable for the vegetables and fruits with hard skin and firm flesh, such as mango, taro, and lemon. The operational efficiency for green mango, taro, and lemon are 1,200 kg/day, 2,500 kg/day, and 1,200 kg/day, respectively. The average skin peeling rate of this peeler is >95%. It is 4~6 times faster than the manual operation.
● Pineapple Farm Multipurpose Management Machine
Suitable for management of pineapple farms. The functions of the machine include insecticide spraying, intertillage weeding and fertilizing, and post-harvest transportation. With this machine, basal on 8 operation hours per day, insecticide spraying can be done on 2 hectares per day; intertillage weeding and fertilizing can be done on 1.5~2 hectares per day; and loading of harvested fruit can be as heavy as 1,000 kg.
● Riding Type Orchard Ditching and Fertilizing Machine
Suitable for management of wax apple and mango farms. The machine can directly perform ditching and fertilizing operations under fruit tree crowns. The estimated operation efficiency is 8~10 hours for one hectare.
● Agricultural Waste Processor
Pineapple and lemon are the major agricultural products in Kao-Ping Area. A lot of residual biomass or peel wastes are generated from pineapple/lemon processing, resulting in the environmental challenges. To solve the problem, the fruit peels and residues were collected, smashed, dehydrated, and then mixed with adjuvants such as soy waste and sawdust. This machine acts as a converter transformed fruit waste into useful compost materials with high beneficial microorganisms or humic acid content. These composts are good organic fertilizers for various crops such as vegetables and flowers.
● Automatic Rice Germinator and Cooker
Germinated brown rice contains 10 times higher bioactive compounds such as γ-amino butyric acid (GABA), ferulic acid and phytate (IP6) than polished rice. However, it is not convenient for consumers to soak brown rice in water for around 18 hrs in advance, which is required to activate the enzymes in brown rice for growing sprouts (0.05~0.1 cm in length). We invented an automatic rice germinator which can prepare germinated brown rice as well as cook brown rice. This rice germinator looks like a commonly used electric rice cooker at home and can be used for cooking of polished/germinated rice.
